We knew the day would come, but this quick?

70 nights, 20 intercity trains, 19 beds, 10 countries, 8 planes, 6 ferries and that's it, job done, you'd think I'd be happy about that, I am not, I want to keep going not happy about heading home at all, but gee's we've had one hell of a good time, an awesome trip, seen and done things we had both only dreamed of until now.  The best thing has been the fact that we have been homeless, OK we are not out on the street, but we have had not had to worry if the lawn had died, the roof had been blown off or whatever else, I haven't enjoyed such freedom for close to forty years, so you can probably understand now why I do not want this to end, it has been so enjoyable but even more so, so liberating having little if anything at all to worry about.

Our bonus 18 days have been some of the best, as is usually the way the stuff you don't spend to much time planning is good, just let it happen.  Both Nice and Barcelona have been huge highlights for me, so much so I'd like to immigrate to France and holiday from there in Spain, it will never happen, but they are among the places we really want to return too.

Barcelona I think has been the biggest surprise package for me, it was only ever a place to fly home from once we had extended the trip, I never expected to actually like the place, fact is I totally love the place, it is the most awesome city, and the food here has been pretty amazing too.

We are a tiny bit worried about lobbing in Perth to yukky cold weather too, not having had a day under 30 since I cannot remember when, it has been so nice, I love the European summer, it is a bit like Broome in May/June, blue sky's, warm sun and gentle breezes, unlike the stinking hot 40 plus days we have where you dare not venture outside in case you get singed, you can really enjoy the outdoors most times here from what we have experienced.

Our last night we will spend at the La Rambla area with a couple we met on our way here at Nice airport, they are from Melbourne and they too fly home tomorrow, we got on very well with them so we are looking forward to a great night out with new friends.  It has been funny, most of the trip we had so few English speaking people to converse with, since leaving Nice we have had heaps, including having lunch and spending half a day with one of my nieces, Kimberley and her husband Alex, rare event to do lunch, but to do so in a foreign country was so good, just hope they were not too bored hanging with the oldies!

Loving life, hating the fact we go home tomoz, but we going to go out kicking and punching, where is Captain Morgan?  I got something to settle with him!

12:01 AM just home from dinner, little bit tipsy and still have to pack my bag, taxi will be here at 7:00 and I have to get 2 bags and 2 backpacks down 70 steps, not looking forward to that, nor the 23 hours it will take to get to Perth, be happy to see the family and a few mates when we get there, but still be happier if we could put it off a few more weeks, but that's how the cookie crumbles.  Thanks to everyone that have followed the blog, hope you have got some enjoyment out of it, I have and I got to live it first!
