We have been having a ball in Paris, though we are both stuffed, Jo thought she had died and gone to heaven on Sunday when we climbed to the top of Notre Dame, 387 steps to the top and they start out about 1200mm wide and squeeze down to a narrow 300mm at the top, sure I heard a popping noise as I stepped onto the roof. Jo was horrified after having waked the circumference of the lower tower to learn we still had a way to go to the top, she was not the only one as an older chap commented "I can't remember me frigging name". We took he lift to the top of the Eiffel Tower, Jo would not let me even utter the word "stairs".
Our visit to the Lourve was short, after the Notre Dame climb and the midnight visit to the Eiffel Tower, which included some lost time figuring out which train we liked best, we tried a few of them, we were so knackered and sore we could not go on and opted to take the ferry back up the Seine to our apartment. Along the way a Gypsy tried to scam us with the old "oh look I found a gold ring" trick, it was magical though the way the gold ring suddenly appeared out of nowhere, a soon as I saw it I laughed and told him good trick now eff off! We actually saw a news item in London saying how this worked and to avoid contact with the thieving bastards. Their were a number of the at the Eiffel, and we witnessed them become quite aggressive with an Asian lady because she would not give them more money, low life's.
The food here has been unbelievably good, Jo is eating stuff she would not even look at t home, including the pastries, was so surprised to see that. I love the fact we can go out for dinner so late at night, after resting for a few hours last night we headed out for some dinner at 10:30pm, we choose to eat at a little Italian Cafe we found and were offered a table with no fuss, the food was beautiful.
As I am writing this, there is lots of noise from a building site next door and over the top of that are voices of people chattering away, I cannot see them, my view is of the river Seine, but Jo has just informed me of a building evacuation from a little down the lane way, the people don't seemed too concerned, they are in fact enjoying catching up with friends, neighbors or colleagues in the beautiful sunshine.
It is our last day in Paris, very sad to be leaving tomorrow morning, it is such a beautiful city, one I am sure we will return to again and again, don't think I could ever grow tired of Paris.
We have so many photo's already it is getting hard to remember what I have posted so my apologies if there are repeats, also photos from 2 cameras are hard to sync so you get Jo's first then mine so you may see some repetition from this fact, hope you enjoy them anyway, here are some from the past couple days, remember click on first photo for pop up browser in large format.
